Mysuru, Sept.1 (KS)- On the occasion of Gowri-Ganesha and Muharram festivals, City Police, on Aug.31 held a peace meeting for peaceful celebration of the festivals with various community leaders at Police Bhavan in city.
The meeting was chaired by DCP (Law and Order) M. Muthuraj on instructions from City Police Commissioner K.T. Balakrishna. DCP (Crime and Traffic) and ACPs of all divisions and Inspectors of all Police Stations took part in the meeting.
Addressing the gathering, DCP Muthuraj said that the rules to be followed during installation of Ganesha idols, while taking out procession during immersion has been published in various newspapers besides stating that organisers of functions during Gowri-Ganesha and Muharram festivals should inform the jurisdictional Police Station and compulsorily take permission from the concerned Department.
He further said that functions should be held without causing problems to the public and should not disrupt traffic. All functions and processions should end before 10 pm, the DCP added. He warned of initiating legal against those forcibly collecting donations and disturbing communal harmony.
Corporators and leaders of various communities were present at the meeting and suggestions were taken for peaceful celebration of the festivals, according to a press release from the PRO, City Police Commissioner’s Office, Mysuru.
