Mysore/Mysuru: “Students who have pursued medical education at JSS Institute of Speech and Hearing (JSS ISH) must acquire latest skills to make use of recent technological innovations to give effective treatment to their patients,” advised Dr. Ashoo Grover, Scientist ‘F’ and Head, Division of Delivery Research, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi.
She was speaking after inaugurating Graduation Day at Sri Rajendra Centenary auditorium in JSS Hospital here on May 4.
“There is great demand for doctors and therapists in the field of Speech and Hearing who will have abundant opportunities to help those dealing with speech and hearing issues. Of late, the field has witnessed changes and most modern equipment are being used to treat patients. But, the new innovations are taking time to reach the people in need. Hence, new graduates must focus on this aspect and acquire latest skills to come out with innovative methods to treat the patients,” said Dr. Ashoo.
Continuing, she said that only those who possess related technological skills will be successful in their respective fields. At present, all sectors are facing challenges and we need to overcome them through perseverance, knowledge and skill. In addition, we also need to imbibe human values. Apart from our educational achievements, we must also contribute to the society,” she concluded.
A total of 70 graduates including 39 under-graduates, 22 post-graduates and one Ph.D holder were felicitated on the occasion. Three graduates and three post-graduates were honoured with Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Swamiji awards.
University of Mysore Registrar (Evaluation) Dr. Basappa, JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, JSS Mahavidyapeetha Director (Medical Education) Dr. R. Mahesh and JSS Institute of Speech and Hearing Principal Dr. R. Suma were present.
