Sir,
A couple of articles that appeared in Star of Mysore a few days apart vividly describe what is happening in Namma Mysuru these days.
On Friday, Aug. 19, the headline was ‘110-km of visual treat’, and the article talked about the grand illumination for the occasion of Dasara celebrations this year.
However, an article on Thursday, Aug. 25, shone the spotlight on the potholes that fill our pathetic roads. It captured the woes and angst of Mysureans perfectly and I’m very happy that you chose to hit on this problem.
Lately, the roads across Mysuru have been deteriorating very rapidly. The Bannur Road, the Urs Road and Vinaya Marga especially are horrible. The roads that were laid just a couple of years ago have completely disappeared, and even the so-called newly laid roads have become patchy. In some places the patches have been made in such a haphazard manner that the roads are completely uneven.
Now with the plans for the grand Dasara illumination, it appears that our authorities want us to look up, not down!
Mysureans, this is a warning to us all: please use the extra lighting to look down and see all the potholes before you stumble into them!
