Mysuru: This year’s Kanaka Jayanti scheduled on Nov. 6 will be celebrated with much grandeur, said MLA and Kanakadasa Jayanthotsava Samithi President M.K. Somashekar.
Addressing a meeting of officials at the DC’s Office here recently, he said that a procession of Saint Kanakadasa’s portrait and statue will be taken out from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at 9 am.
The procession will pass through K.R. Circle, New Sayyaji Rao Road, Hardinge Circle, Basaveshwara Circle, Shanthala Talkies, D.D. Urs Road, Metropole Circle, Hunsur Road and culminate at Kalamandira where a stage programme will be held.
The stage programme will commence with the rendition of Kanakadasa’s compositions. Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, Adichunchanagiri Mutt Seer Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji and Kaginele Kanakaguru Peeta, Mysuru Branch Seer Sri Shivanandapuri Swamiji will grace the occasion. Instructing the officials to decorate the roads on which the procession will pass through, the MLA said that government employees must compulsorily attend the event on Nov. 6.
