Mysore/Mysuru: Vidu. Dr. Sumitra Vasudev, renowned vocalist and an acclaimed musicologist from Chennai, will be presenting a vocal concert at Ganabharathi’s Veene Seshanna Bhavana in Kuvempunagar on Sept. 19 at 6 pm.
Vidu. Sumitra will be accompanied by Vidu. C.V. Shruthi on violin, Vid. Mysore A. Radhesh on mridanga and Vid. M.R. Manjunath on ghata.
The concert is being conducted in memory of the musician couple Vidu. Indira and Vid. T.P. Vaidyanathan, both disciples of B.K. Padmanabha Rao of the Vasudevacharya School in city.
The musician couple lived in Chennai for over four decades, serving the cause of music by imparting training to numerous youngsters and by conducting workshops, particularly on Mysore composers. Having been childless, the two donated generously to the needy and the fellow musicians. They have left behind a host of music performers and admirers, who continue to serve the cause of music both in Chennai and Mysuru.
