A grand procession marked the 133rd birth anniversary celebrations of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, in city this morning.
The citizens, accompanied by cultural troupes performing Veeraghase, Dollu Kunitha, Puja Kunitha, Kamsale and Nandi Dhwaja, participated in the colourful procession along with a flower-decked silver chariot carrying the portrait of the Rajarshi.
The Mounted Police personnel, two Palace elephants and Police Band were also part of the procession which was flagged off by MLA M.K. Somashekar from the entrance of Prasanna Lakshmiramanaswamy temple inside the Palace premises after offering special pujas to the deity.
The function was organised by the District Administration in association with the Department of Kannada and Culture and Ursu Jayanthotsava Samithi.
Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, Assistant Commissioner C.L. Ananda, Palace Board Deputy Director T.S. Subramanya, Varchaswi Siddalinga Raje Urs of Sri Manteswami Mutt in Malavalli and others, who participated in the procession, halted at K.R.Circle, where floral tributes were offered to the statue of Nalwadi.
Later, the procession passed via Devaraj Urs Road and JLB Road to reach Kalamandira on Hunsur road where stage programmes had been organised.
