K.R. Nagar: The annual feast of St. Antony at Dornahalli in K.R. Nagar, coming under Mysore Diocese, was celebrated in a grand manner yesterday. Thousands of people from across the country and from abroad irrespective of caste and creed gathered in large numbers to honour the Saint. They expressed gratitude for the favours bestowed on them and fulfilled their vow to the Saint.
Bishop of Mysuru Rev. K.A. William, St. Antony’s Shrine Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Dr. R. Arogyaswamy, former Principal of St. Philomena’s College, Mysuru, Rev. Fr. Dr. Vincent, …Belthangadi Bishop Rev. Dr. Lawrence Makuli conducted special prayers and addressed the gathering.
The statue of St. Antony was taken in a procession in a decorated chariot on the main streets of Doranahalli during which the devotees celebrated by bursting crackers in the evening, bringing down the curtains on the annual feast.
The celebrations for the feast started on June 4, with several rituals and special prayers lined up on all days, led by Parish Priest Dr. R. Arogyaswamy.
K.R. Nagar Inspector Raju, Sub-Inspector Subramanya and staff provided security. KSRTC had deployed additional buses to Dornahalli for the benefit of a large number of devotees.
