Mysore/Mysuru: City-based NGO Credit-I in association with multinational software firm Cognizant distributed grocery kits to over 70 rural folk artistes at Kiru Rangamandira premises in city this morning.
Grocery kits containing 5 kg of rice, 500 grams of turdal, 1 kg sugar, 1 kg wheat floor, 1 kg salt, 250 gm sambar powder, 1 litre cooking oil together with masks and sanitisers were distributed to rural folk artistes by members of the city based NGO.
Speaking on the occasion, Credit-I Managing Trustee Dr. M.P. Varsha said, “Credit-I with the help of software firm has taken up the responsibility of meeting the basic needs of people who have been adversely affected by the pandemic.”
“Folk artistes including Kamsale, Dollu Kunita and other folk art forms, living in rural areas are facing difficulties. For this reason, we decided to help them and distribute grocery kits. We are aiming to distribute over 3,000 grocery kits to the needy out of which we have already distributed over 1,800 kits till date,” he said.
Red Cross Secretary Dr. Mahadevappa, HoD of Psychology in Maharani’s College Prof. Manonmani, Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture Department H. Chennappa and others were present.
