Mysuru: Students and faculty of GSSS School of Architecture for Women (GSSS SOAW), Mysuru, had organised a Peace Rally in an attempt to raise awareness about the impact of urbanisation and climate change in Mysuru recently.
The students and faculty of GSSS SOAW conducted a cycle rally by hiring Trin-Trin cycles individually from the cycle stands and electric scooters in an attempt to demonstrate a cleaner mode of transportation.
The rally began from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple gate to Gandhi Square, Chikka Gadiyara, across Devaraj Urs Road and old DC’s Office culminating at Kukkarahalli Lake Gate.
The students performed skits near Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, Chikka Gadiyara and near Kukkarahalli Gate highlighting the need to take immediate action regarding the cause.
The skit addressed topics like rising temperatures, cutting of trees for road widening, increasing pollution levels and water stressed KRS Dam.
The final scene of the skit showed a concerned Devi Chamundeshwari urging the residents of Mysuru to be more water and environment sensitive, use public transport and increase the nature’s footprint in the city. The skit concluded with a plea to Mysureans to not only celebrate Dasara — the essence of the city of Mysuru — but also celebrate its natural heritage and conserve it for future generations.
GSSS SOAW has thanked Mysuru Traffic Police for their co-operation in organising the event and ensuring a safe passage through the city for the cyclists.
