GTD decides to bifurcate Maharani’s Science & Arts College

Planning to acquire 4.5 acre MUDA land in Vijayanagar 4th Stage for the new Arts College

Mysuru:  Higher Education Minister G.T. Devegowda (GTD) has decided to bifurcate the Maharani’s College established by the Mysore royal family. Already Maharani’s Commerce and Management College for Women has been shifted to a spacious building in Paduvarahalli. Now, plans are afoot to bifurcate the Science and Arts Colleges which are in the same place on JLB Road.

It is impossible to provide basic facilities to the burgeoning strength of students of both Science and Arts Colleges in the same place. Realising the situation, the Minister has decided to shift the Arts College to a different place.

There is four-and-a-half acre land belonging to Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) in Vijayanagar 4th Stage. The Higher Education Department is planning to take this piece of land and build a modern college with all basic facilities. He has already brought this matter to the notice of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy (HDK) and also held discussions with the officials.

The strength of the students is increasing every year. While Maharani’s Science College will continue in the same building, the Arts College will be shifted. GTD has plans of utilising the Grants for the Higher Education in the Budget and loans from World Bank for this proposal.
