GTD regrets grabbing of Mutt properties

Tumakuru Siddaganga Mutt Seer Sri Siddalinga Swamiji, Kuderu Mutt Seer Sri Gurushanta Swamiji and Kundur Mutt Seer Dr. Sri Sharat Chandra Swamiji inaugurating Sri Guru Malleshwara’s 123 Pramatha Ganaradhane function organised at Kuderu Mutt premises in Alanahalli Layout here on Sunday as State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra, MLA G.T. Devegowda, MLC Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, MLA T.S. Srivatsa and BJP leader Kaveesh Gowda look on.

Mysore/Mysuru: “People used to donate properties to religious Mutts to enable Mutts to carry out their Dasoha and other religious and pro-people activities. But now, some vested interests are grabbing the properties of religious Mutts,” regretted Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Devegowda (GTD).

He was speaking at Sri Guru Malleshwara’s 123 Pramatha Ganaradhane function organised at Kuderu Mutt premises in Alanahalli Layout here on Sunday.

“Now land rates are increasing. An acre of land fetches rupees one crore and a gunta, rupees ten lakh and the lure of huge money are forcing some vested interests to grab Mutts properties. It is a matter of concern that the society is moving in this direction,” he said.

“Basavanna urged people to work, earn their livelihood and lead their life by saying Work is Worship. Even Mutts are preaching the principle of work. But the State Congress Government by giving free schemes to people in total contrast to this principle. In Andhra Pradesh, Government led by Jagan Mohan Reddy gave all sorts of free schemes. But people were unhappy and defeated his Government in the recently held Assembly elections. In Karnataka also, people gave just 9 seats for the Congress, indicating that they don’t support free schemes,” concluded GTD.
