Mysuru: Even as Chief Minister Siddharamaiah is getting ready to contest from Chamundeshwari Assembly Constituency, JD(S) leaders A.H. Vishwanath and G.T. Devegowda(GTD) met BJP leader V. Sreenivasa Prasad at the latter’s Jayalakshmipuram residence here yesterday to discuss poll strategy for taking on CM Siddharamaiah who has declared that he would contest from Chamundeshwari.
The meeting of the JD(S) duo Vishwanath and G.T. Devegowda with veteran leader Sreenivasa Prasad has given rise to speculations in political circles.
The JD(S) leaders, who exhibited unity, are now gearing up to take on Siddharamaiah, who will be fighting his last electoral battle in Chamundeshwari Constituency.
Prasad, who is keeping a low profile after the by-poll defeat, held closed door talks with Vishwanath and G.T. Devegowda and decided to chalk out a strategy to defeat Siddharamaiah and the Congress in Mysuru district.
The JD(S) leaders are said to have appealed to Sreenivasa Prasad to rise above party politics as they have a similar objective and agenda to defeat Siddharamaiah and stop the Congress from coming to power.
They are also said to have discussed caste equation in Hunsur, Periyapatna, Chamundeshwari and other assembly segments in Mysuru district in the wake of speculations that BJP leader C.H. Vijayashankar is planning to join the Congress.
During the talks, it was also decided to bring anti-Congress and anti-Siddharamaiah forces together and launch an extensive campaign against the Congress, it is learnt.
MP Pratap Simha meets Prasad
Even as the two JD(S) leaders met Sreenivasa Prasad to discuss the agenda for defeating Siddharamaiah. MP Pratap Simha met Sreenivasa Prasad at the latter’s residence on Saturday evening following direction from top State party leaders.
