Guest lecturers stage protest

Mysuru: Hundreds of guest lecturers working in various Government First Grade Colleges affiliated to University of Mysore staged a protest near DC Office this morning, demanding job security.  

The protesters alleged that Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy had promised to provide job security to guest faculty in the poll manifesto but has failed to take any measures.

Stating that the Delhi government, which has provided job security to around 17,000 guest lecturers recently, they urged the Government to take similar measures before the ongoing winter session ends.

More than 13,000 lecturers, working in 411 First Grade Clleges are facing a bleak future as the Government has plans to appoint 3,000 new lecturers. The guest faculty are yet to get salaries for last semester, they said.  

They said they are holding Belagavi chalo on Dec. 17 to pressurise the State Government   and will lay siege Suvarna Soudha to disrupt the proceedings.

Office-bearers of the Association K. Somashekhar, P.M. Mahesh, M.H. Krishnamurthy, Hanumanthesha, J.C. Ravindra, Swamy, Shalini K.T. Latha, Shruthi, Asha, Latha, Priyadarshini, Veenakumari, Purnima and others were present.
