K.R. Nagar: More than 40 guests, including women and children, who had reportedly consumed food at a wedding held at Bherya in the taluk yesterday, have taken ill and have been admitted to hospital.
The guests, who had come to attend the wedding ceremony at ALL Kalyana Mantap at Bherya yesterday, consumed the wedding lunch served to them and left for their respective places. But before they could reach, they began to vomit and also complained of severe stomach ache and dysentery and have got themselves admitted to a hospital.
Those who are undergoing treatment at the Women and Children’s Hospital are six-year-old Yogeesha, two-year-old Indu, Thanushri, Mohith, Pooja, Dhanush, Pavithra and Pavani, three-year-old Prashanth, Rachana, Ruchitha, Shrusti and Dhruva, seven-year-old Spandana, 12-year-old Sagar, 16-year-old Ravish, six-year-old Ruthushri, 14-year-old Smitha, four-year-old Srujana, Amrutha, 13-year-old Manya and eight-year-old Nishanth.
Those undergoing treatment at the town’s General Hospital are 30-year-old Rukmini, 61-year-old Deviramma, 68-year-old Prakash and Siddaiah, 60-year-old Gowramma and Javaranna, 17-year-old Goutham, Chethan and Suprith, 36-year-old Basavaraju and Manjula, 29-year-old Shivanna, 45-year-old Mahadevu, 18-year-old Ashwini and Parvathi, 16-year-old Gowramma, 14-year-old Divya, 28-year-old Soma and 35-year-old Padma.
It is learnt that many others from Bherya and Periyapatna, who fell sick, are undergoing treatment at local hospital.
Meanwhile, Taluk Health Officer (THO) Dr. Mahendrappa, Hospital Administrative Officer Dr. Shivaprasad, who rushed to the spot have taken necessary steps to provide treatment and also summoned all the staff who had gone after completing their day’s work.
THO Dr. Mahendrappa said that the guests had fallen sick due to some problems with the food and added that there was no need to panic and all those who are admitted were healthy and recovering.
District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Venkatesh, too visited the hospital, collected information from the officials and also enquired the health of the patients.
