Creative competitions for children, women and family
Mysuru: Industrial Extension Cottage (Indext-C), a Government of Gujarat organisation, will be hosting ‘Gujarat Handicrafts Utsav-2019’ in association with JSS Mysore Urban Haat at the Haat premises in Hebbal (near Ring Road) from July 4 to 14.
The exhibition showcases authentic and traditional handicrafts of Gujarat. More than 80 artistes from Gujarat will be travelling to Mysuru to participate in the exhibition. As part of the exhibition, ‘The Thought School’ (Aniketana Mysore) is organising various children, women and family creative engagement activities and competitions.
School children from class 5 and above can take part in the creative competitions. Solo dance and karaoke singing competitions are organised on July 6 between 5 pm and 8.30 pm, while on-the-spot-drawing competition is being held on July 7 between 10.30 am and 12 noon.
Desi ethnic wear and folk group dance competitions are organised on July 13 between 5 pm and 8.30 pm.
In addition, schools can register their students for free art demonstration workshop. Artists will engage students with Warli art, greeting cards making, crafts and arts sessions.
Garbha dance evening and Sunday art zone is organised on July 7 along with creative engagement kiosks. Children can explore palm painting, face painting, clay modelling, temporary tattoos and other colourful activities at the venue.
Sunday art zone will be open to families from 4 pm onwards. Participants can join the celebration of dancing to the tunes of Garbha with the artists of Gujarat. Sunday art zone and Garbha dance evening is open to all age groups.
