The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) came to an end on Sunday after Gujarat Titans (GT) registered a 7-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to clinch their maiden title.
It was nothing but a fairytale run for Gujarat Titans in IPL-2022 as the Hardik Pandya-led side went on to win the title in their debut season.
Gujarat’s highly-rated bowling attack, led by skipper Hardik Pandya (3/17) himself, limited a formidable Rajasthan Royals batting unit to 130 for nine, after losing the toss.
In the final, it was Hardik who took three wickets with the ball, including the prized scalp of Jos Buttler. In the end, Gujarat went on to chase the total with seven wickets in hand and 11 balls to spare.
This year’s league witnessed 74 matches played across six venues from Mar. 26. Gujarat had topped the table after the league phase and continued that form to capture the title.

The IPL-2022 administration had launched several programmes to make the final match memorable. The closing ceremony started with Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh’s performance with cricket legend and former Indian captain Kapil Dev’s biopic ’83’s song.
Musician A.R. Rahman accompanied by singers Neeti Mohan and Mohit Chauhan performed patriotic songs representing each decade. He sang Maa Tuje Salaam, Rang De Basanti and Jai Ho among others.
