‘Guru Vandana’ marks 111th birthday of Dr. Sri Shivakumara Swamiji

Seers of various Mutts showering flower petals on the bust of Siddaganga Seer during the ‘Guru Vandana’ programme held in his honour in city on Monday last.

Mysuru:  Rani Chennamma Swayam Seva Sangha had organised a ‘Guru Vandana’ programme at Subba Rao Park in Niveditanagar here on Monday as part of the 111th birthday celebrations Dr. Sri Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddaganga Mutt, Tumakuru.

Speaking on the occasion, Sri Siddeshwara Swamji of Gnanayogashrama, Vijayapura, recalled the selfless service of Sri Shivakumara Swamiji for the last 80 years providing food, shelter and education to students. He said that the students educated at the Mutt were spread all around the world in coveted positions and added that offering ‘Guru Vandana’ was the right proposition to do for the great person.

Marking the occasion, 111 women took out a procession carrying ‘Poornakumbha’ along with a bust of the Swamji from Shivakumara Swamiji Circle on Vishwamanava Double Road in Kuvempunagar to the venue of the function. The procession was flagged off by Kuderu Mutt Seer by showering flower petals on the bust of the Swamiji. Several folk troupes took part in the procession.

Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji and Chidananda Swamiji of Hosa Mutt graced the occasion.

Sangha President M. Nanjundaswamy, Vice-President A.P. Virupaksha, Convenor Kanya S. Shivamurthy and others were present at the programme.
