Mysuru: Gurudeva Lalitha Kala Academy had organised a function at Kalamandira here on Nov. 11 titled ‘Gurudevotsava – 2017’ to commemorate the 9th anniversary of the Academy featuring classical dance.
The occasion also marked the presentation of ‘Gurudeva’ award to Vid. R. Kannan, Director, Nandini Nruthyalaya and senior artiste.
Speaking after presenting the award, industrialist M. Jagannath Shenoy commended the promotion of art in city with evolution of new artistes.
He assured to extend all support to the Academy for its art promotion activities. He opined that today’s young generation should be made aware of Indian culture, art and heritage.
On the occasion, Prathiba Puraskar was presented to Academy senior students Shweta, D.J. Durga Rao, C.V. Yashaswini, Chandana, Junior students Sanvi Shetty, S. Disha Nayar, Samruddhi, Nishita Sanjeeva, G. Revasri, V. Trisha, Varsha Ganesh, Tanisha, Neela M. Raghavan, Pre-Vidwat students Lakshmi Vishwanath, Gauri Priya and S.P. Preethi.
Students of Academy presented a dance programme.
S.Shivarajappa, Director, Gandhi Bhavan, University of Mysore, R.Manjunath Sreevatsa, Secretary, Shree Sharada Education Trust and others were present during the programme.
