Mysore/Mysuru: Former MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev has thanked the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah-led Cabinet for its approval to upgrade Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) to Greater Mysuru City Corporation (GMCC).
Addressing the media persons, at Pathrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, Rajeev said by including Siddalingapura, Chamundi Hill, Naganahalli, Nagawala, Dhanagalli, Beerihundi, Yelwal and Alanahalli gram panchayats, Srirampura, Rammanahalli, Kadakola and Bogadi Taluk Panchayats and Hootagalli City Municipal Council would boost tourism and industrial growth in the future.
He also said the areas which have been denied basic amenities will be provided with necessary facilities and would also increase the allocation of funds from both State and Central Governments to be utilised for the development of roads among other amenities along with developing Srirangapatna, KRS and other spiritual and tourism destinations.
“The inclusion of Gram Panchayats, Taluk Panchayats and one CMC into Greater Mysuru City Corporation will help in bringing metro facilities, maintenance of layouts, expansion of airport and railway,” he said and also hoped the introduction of uniform property tax system.
Former Mayor B.L. Bhyrappa, N.D. Mamata and K.A.S. Siddalingappa were present at the press meet.
