Haadi houses to remain in dark due to Forest Dept’s non-cooperation: CESC

Mysore/Mysuru: All houses in the district will be electrified before January 2021, said K.M. Munigopal Raju, Superintending Engineer, Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC).

However, he clarified that this deadline is not applicable to haadis (hamlets) in the district.

Giving details at KDP meeting held here recently, he said the CESC was unable to give the electricity connection to haadis situated on the fringes of forest as Forest Department was not giving No Objection Certificate (NOC) to draw power cable. Though it was their wish to electrify every house in the district it was not happening due to non-co-operation of Forest Department, he added.

Raju said the CESC has identified 9,136 houses of which 8,316 had been given power connection. Work was in progress to provide the electricity connection to rest of the 820 houses. By January next year, Mysuru District will be declared as ‘total electrified’ district sans haadis, he said.

Encourage Nanjangud Rasabaale

Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha, who was also present at the KDP meeting, asked officials of Agriculture and Horticulture Departments to promote farmers to grow Nanjangud Rasabaale which has got Geographical Indication (GI), due to its demand in market.

Since that variety of banana is also good for people, all help should be extended to farmers to grow it, he said.
