Thanks to heavy rain in Virajpet Taluk of Kodagu district, the Lakshmanatheertha River has filled up with water. Heavy rain in Kutta, Brahmagiri ranges, Nagarahole National Park, Balele and Nittoor in Kodagu has increased the water flow. The Hanagodu Dam that is about 14 kms from Hunsur has been filled after a gap of over 20 years. The dam started accumulating water since Tuesday and it was full to the brim by yesterday evening.
Hundreds of villagers from Hunsur and surrounding areas are visiting the Dam to see the water flowing after a long gap. Lakshmanatheertha River is a tributary of River Cauvery and it originates in the Brahmagiri Hills and later joins Cauvery at Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam. [Pics by Raghu Photo World]
