Thanks to heavy rain in Virajpet Taluk of Kodagu district, the Lakshmanatheertha River has filled up with water.
Heavy rain in Kutta, Brahmagiri ranges, Nagarahole National Park, Balele and Nittoor in Kodagu has increased the water flow.
The Hanagodu Dam is about 14 kms from Hunsur. Lakshmanatheertha River is a tributary of River Cauvery and it originates in the Brahmagiri Hills and later joins Cauvery at Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam in Mandya district.
