Handicrafts Expo at JSS Urban Haat from tomorrow

Food Fest from Feb.15 to 17

JSS Mysore Urban Haat of JSS Mahavidyapeetha (JSSMVP) has organised its 100th Handicrafts Exhibition from Feb.8 to 17. The expo will be open from 10 am to 9 pm on all the days. There is no entry and parking fee.

The Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Government of India (GoI), Ministry of Textiles, GoI, is sponsoring this exhibition. More than 60 artisans from across the country including National and State awardees are exhibiting and selling their attractive traditional and heritage artefacts at this exhibition.

Food Fest

In addition to the ongoing handicrafts exhibition, there will also be a Food Fest organised between Feb.15 and 17 in association with Anikethana, Mysuru. The select food stalls would serve various delicacies and will provide a tasteful experience for the visitors.

Inauguration

The event will be inaugurated tomorrow (Feb.8) at 4 pm by Jyothi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Zilla Panchayat, Mysuru. Prof. M.J. Kamalakshi, Chairperson, Karnataka Lalithakala Academy, Bengaluru, will preside. Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSSMVP, Dr. C. Ranganathaiah, Director (Projects & Development), JSS Technical Education Division, JSSMVP, G.M. Kumar, Managing Director, Btv News, Bengaluru, B.R. Umakant, Joint Director (Projects), JSS Technical Education Division and K.S. Sunilkumar, Asst. Director, Handicraft Service Centre, Ministry of Textile, GoI, Mysuru, will be the chief guests.

National & State award winning craftsmen will present live demonstrations in Art & Craft Making and display Punjabi Phulkari/ Patiyala Suits, Bhagalpur Tussar Silk Sarees, Bastar Iron Craft from Madhya Pradesh, Horn Products, Grass Mats/ Curtains, Jaipur Kurthas & Raprons, Kanjivaram Silk Sarees, Ilakal Kasuthi and Molakalmuru Sarees of Karnataka and Dress Materials, Wood Carving & Furniture from Saharanpur, Wood Inlay, modern ceramic arts, Murals, Paintings, all kinds of Leather & Jute Products, Imitation Jewellery, Gem Stone Jewellery, Channapatna  Toys and other attractive Handicrafts and Handlooms Items.

City Bus facility (No.117) has been arranged from KSRTC Bus Stand, according to a press release from Dr. C. Ranganathaiah and B.R. Umakant.
