Mysore/Mysuru: Happy World Foundation, as part of their ‘Adopt a Tree’ project successfully planted 70 saplings at Kittur Rani Chennamma School, Nanjapura in Hunsur (Mysuru district) recently.
The tree species comprised Badami, Neem, Honge, Tabebuia Rosea, Parijatha, Sampige and Jack Fruit varieties. The saplings were planted within the school camps and were procured from various Forest Department Nurseries.
Volunteers from the Foundation made sure that they select native tree species that provide maximum shade and flower annually once fully grown. The saplings were planted within the School premises and also by the side of the road as the area is completely dry. The School children in the surrounding areas assisted the Foundation in planting the saplings.
After the saplings were planted, iron fencing was laid around the plants so that they are protected from livestock. The Foundation volunteers ensured that the saplings are watered regularly and despite lockdown, they travelled to Hunsur just to water the saplings.
