Harassing woman to give phone number: FIR registered against neighbour

Mysore/Mysuru: An FIR has been registered against a man for harassing his neighbour to speak to him and give him her phone number.

In her complaint, the woman has stated that her neighbour Devaraju was following her and pestering her to talk to him and also give her mobile phone number to him.

She further stated in the complaint that Devaraju threatened to kill her husband if she did not give him her phone number. Despite telling him what he was doing was not right, he (Devaraju) continued to harass her and she had not told this to her husband fearing that Devaraju would harm him.

On Feb. 14 at about 11 am when she was proceeding on her scooter to buy medicines, Devaraju, who followed her on his bike, waylaid her near the park, opposite to Yoganarasimhaswamy Temple, asked her to give him her phone number. On seeing many people passing by, he left from the spot and again waylaid her scooter on Kalidasa Road and again demanded her to give the phone number besides threatening to kill her and her husband. She somehow escaped from him and reached her home, the complaint further stated.

Stating that it has become very difficult for her to go out of the house, she lodged a complaint on Feb. 20 urging the Police to initiate legal action against Devaraju. Based on the complaint, a FIR has been registered.
