Mysuru: Burglars made away with around Rs. 2 lakh cash from two hardware shops located on Ashoka Road in city last night. Police said that the burglars entered P.C. Darla hardware shop by breaking the grills on the second floor of the shops.
The Police said that the burglars climbed to the second floor using pipes from the lane located behind the shops.
On gaining entry, the miscreants came to the ground floor and took away Rs. 2 lakh in cash from PC Darla. Surprisingly, they left behind coins worth Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 50,000 petty cash. The incident came to light when Vinod, the shop owner, came to open the shop, this morning. However, the Police could not find any CCTV footage as the shop owner had switched off the camera.
The Police also added that the burglars gained entry to Mahendra Hardware located next to PC Darla by breaking the sheet on the terrace and made away with around Rs. 8,000 in cash collected in the donation box The burglars also damaged the hard disc of the CCTV cameras.
Laskhar Police Inspector K.M. Kantharaju, who has registered a case, visited the spot along with fingerprint experts and dog squad.
It may be recalled in a similar incident, burglars had made with Rs. 19 lakh in cash from three shops – Anand Brothers, Oswal Fashions and GM Lights on June 21 night in the same locality.
