Hathkargha Mela-2024: Handloom Expo-cum-Sale at JSS Mysore Urban Haat

Mysuru: A State-level Handloom Expo-cum-Sale titled ‘Hathkargha Mela — My Handloom, My Pride – Virasat’ will be held at JSS Mysore Urban Haat in Hebbal from Nov. 8 to 21 from 10 am to 9.30 pm.

District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa will inaugurate the expo on Nov. 8 at 4 pm.

The Handloom Expo, sponsored by Development Commissioner (Handloom), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, New Delhi, is  organised by Commissioner for Textile Development & Director, Department of Handloom & Textile, Government of Karnataka, Karnataka State Co-operative Handloom Weavers Federation Ltd. (Cauvery Handlooms), Bengaluru, Deputy Director, Department of Handloom & Textile, Mysuru, JSS Mahavidyapeetha and JSS Mysore Urban Haat.

This event aims to provide greater market access for handloom products created by weavers and cooperatives, ensuring that these unique crafts do not fade away. It will empower families reliant on weaving as a livelihood by offering them a platform to sell their products under one roof.

The exhibition will feature over 75 handloom weavers and artisans showcasing a rich variety of handloom products from across Karnataka, including districts such as Chitradurga, Haveri, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Ramanagara and more.

Visitors can also expect to see exquisite silk and cotton sarees, bed sheets and other textiles crafted from blended yarns, along with handloom items from over 15 States across India.

Highlights: Visitors can avail a 20% discount on handloom products directly from weavers and cooperatives; Discover a stunning collection of sarees, including Karnataka’s renowned silk and cotton sarees, traditional Kanjivaram sarees from Tamil Nadu; Handwoven sarees from Kerala, Bihar, West Bengal; intricate Banarasi silk sarees and Chikan embroidered pieces.
