Mysuru: High Court Judge Justice E.S. Indiresh inaugurated the renovated Moot Court at JSS Law College, Kuvempunagar in the city recently.
In his address, Indiresh said, ‘Along with studies, the Moot Court provides a professional experience to the students, being a perfect platform for the students to understand the judiciary system and the way of functioning of the Court.’
Among the public services in the country, the Judicial Services hold a distinct position. To be a part of the highly valued service, it is essential for the students to study effectively. The Moot Court, being a part of the curriculum, functions as a platform to hone the skills of students as a judge and advocate. In this competitive era, much emphasis is laid on the skills rather than obtaining the marks. The Moot Court is also beneficial in improving the skills to speak, asserted Justice Indiresh.
“Ours is a democratic nation, with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Constitution considered as supreme for all. Prior to attending the Court, what holds the key is to make a deep study of the case, note the merits for argument, analyse the possibilities of judgement, utilisation of technology and gathering of crucial evidences. If such skills are acquired in a practical manner, it would be possible for the students to build a better career, that would be a role model for others,” advised Justice Indiresh.
Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji said, this being a competitive era, the presentation skills that reflects one’s depth of knowledge is pivotal, the buzzword that was earlier taught by others. Now, we are in a self-learning phase. As a professional advocate, the communication skill, winnability, professional experience and the capacity to argue, count more than their alma mater.
