HDK demands holding of ZP, TP elections

Bengaluru: A day after the State Congress celebrated the International  Day of Democracy by forming a 2,500 km long human chain across the State, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy (HDK) has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to conduct  ZP, TP and other Urban Local Bodies polls.

Speaking to press persons here yesterday, he said that merely giving advertisements in newspapers would not help in saving democracy. As local bodies are foundation of democracy, polls must be held immediately to these bodies, he said adding that forming a human chain does not serve the purpose.

Maintaining that the Congress has not conducted local bodies polls even after being in power for the past 16 months, Kumaraswamy said that elections must be held to ZP, TP and all other local bodies immediately, as most of them do not have elected bodies for years.
