Health screening camp held

• People sensitised on importance of regular monitoring of health and safe use of medicines

Mysore/Mysuru: As part of 60th National Pharmacy Week celebrations, Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Mysuru branch, in association with Department of Pharmacy Practice and NSS Unit of JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, had organised a Health Screening Camp on Dec. 15 at three different locations — Akashvani Circle, Kukkarahalli Lake Gate and Lalitha Mahal Road Arch —  between 6 am and 9 am.

The aim of the health screening camp was to sensitise the people about the importance of regular monitoring of health and safe use of medicines.

During the camp, interested public were screened for blood pressure and blood glucose levels. A total of 274 people were monitored for their blood pressure and blood glucose levels.

At the time of monitoring, 86 people were found with elevated blood glucose level and 87 people were found with elevated levels of blood pressure. People who were identified with the elevated levels of blood pressure and blood glucose levels were advised on Non-Pharmacological management and suggested to consult physician for further diagnosis and treatment, according to Dr. R.S. Chandan, Secretary, IPA, Mysuru branch and Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, JSS College of  Pharmacy.

Blood donation

A blood donation camp was organised on Dec. 16 at JSS College of Pharmacy in association with IPA, Mysuru branch. The programme was inaugurated by L.R. Mahadevaswamy, Chairman, Zoo Authority of  Karnataka (ZAK).

Gurupadayya, Treasurer, IPA Mysuru branch, Dr. Chandan, Honorary Secretary, IPA Mysuru branch, Dr. K.L. Krishna, NSS Programme Coordinator, JSS AHER, Dr. M.P. Gowrav, NSS Program Officer were present.

More than 100 students and staff registered and screened for their eligibility to donate blood. A total of 51 units of blood was donated on the occasion.
