Mysuru: After the Canteen issue rocked the Council, a heated debate was witnessed over realigning a road to prevent the same from passing through the site of a Trust at Kesare. Ashraful Uloom Trust runs a Madrasa and also owns sites on the same premises. As one of the roads passes through the site, the Trust Secretary wrote to MCC to realign the road to the corner of another site that also belongs to the Trust.
MCC officials, who examined the land records, found merit in the request of the Trust and approved the same. The change in alignment of road was also beneficial in the interest of road users as it would connect to the main road, the officials felt.
When M.V. Ramprasad raised the issue, war of words ensued between BJP and Congress. Congress Corporators accused Ramprasad of deliberately making an issue out of nothing. They charged him for targeting a Madrasa. He defended his questioning and said he wanted the Council to know about the issue. Later, the Mayor announced that the proposal will be sent to government for approval.
