Heavy rains, gusty winds hit Mysuru

Mysuru:  Heavy rains accompanied by gusty winds hit the city last night plunging a few areas into darkness.

Suresh Gowda, a resident of Valmiki Road in Vontikoppal, told Star of Mysore that the road was flooded with water thus causing problem for motorists to navigate the road. Heavy rain has been reported in and around Mysore Palace, K.R. Circle, Basaveshwara Circle, Agrahara, Sharadadevinagar and other parts of the city, flooding these areas with knee-deep water. There was heavy downpour even in the outskirts like Hanchya village, Varuna hobli and surrounding villages. The rainwater flowed on to the roads in areas like Kuvempunagar, Vasu Layout as the underground drainage work is going on here.

Heavy rain in Napoklu limits

Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds lashed Napoklu, where the Kulletira Cup Hockey Fest is on, yesterday afternoon for about an hour. In some parts, rain accompanied by thunder hit places like Betu, Kottamadi, Hodduru and Paluru. Due to strong winds, the roof-top sheets in town’s market shops were blown away. A few coffee plants in the estate belonging to one Umesh have come down due to heavy rain.
