Heavy rains: Water gushes into houses

Mysore/Mysuru: More than 10 houses were flooded with rain water following heavy rains in city on Monday.

The rain, which commenced at about 5.45 pm, poured continuously till about 9.30 pm. The surroundings of Mysore Palace, Kuvempunagar, Ramakrishnanagar, Siddarthanagar, Alanahalli, K.G. Koppal, Sharadadevinagar, Krishnamurthypuram, Jayalakshmipuram, Bogadi 2nd Stage, Vijayanagar, Vidyaranyapuram and other areas received heavy rains.

Houses of Mohammed Sadiq, Mohammed Farooq, Aleem Pasha and others at Azeez Sait Nagar were flooded with rain water and a few houses near the Railway Workshop were also flooded and the residents were seen removing rain water from their houses. 

Houses in low-lying areas such as Kanakagiri, Chamundipuram, Vidyaranyapuram, Gunduraonagar and surrounding places were also flooded. Sewage water mixed with rain water too entered houses causing problems to the residents.

While Mysuru city received 2.3 mm rains, Nanjangud received 9.6 mm, Hunsur 5.5 mm, K.R. Nagar 19.38 and H.D. Kote received 0.5 mm rain on Sunday.
