Mysore/Mysuru: As part of the 24th State-level Dance Competition ‘Hejje-Gejje,’ Sri Nimishamba Dance Promoters had organised a programme at Jaganmohan Palace here yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, film Director Sudhakar Saja recalled that Mysore Maharajas used to promote art and added that Jaganmohan Palace has been a popular platform for young artistes to exhibit their talents. He commended Sri Nimishamba Dance Promoters in churning out good dancers, many of whom have excelled in India and abroad.
On the occasion, ‘Kannada Ratna’ award was conferred on popular Actor, Producer and Director Rishab Shetty.
Expressing his appreciation for Mysuru, Rishab Shetty regretted that people in general show negligence towards Kannada schools and appealed parents to provide elementary education for their children in their mother tongue at least till 5th or 7th standard.
Prizes were distributed to winners of the dance competition and over 175 artistes presented dance-drama ‘Sri Krishna.’
Sri Nimishamba Dance Promoters Managing Director and renowned dancer Vid. Sridhar Jain of ‘Apthamitra’ fame, Central Warehousing Corporation Director Dr. G. Ravi, Chirantana Academy of Performing Arts Founder Deepa N. Rao and others were present during the programme.
