Sir,
This is regarding the report titled “Portion of Mysore Palace fort wall collapses near Kote Maramma Temple” in Star of Mysore dated Oct.18.
Since the structure is more than 100 years old, it is surprising that the dilapidated wall was noticed only a month ago.
Heritage structures need constant monitoring by the authorities. Making an effort for Dasara-sake on Palace property is disheartening.
Hope those concerned with maintenance of heritage structures have given the contract specifications with ecological method in mind and lime mortar will be used to rebuild the wall.
Please do not use substandard materials with cement and spoil the look of the wall. In other countries, the rectifications are done without altering the old method and the final look and feel will be unnoticed by visitors. We expect the same to be maintained by the supervising team here too.
