Mysore/Mysuru: A heritage Tonga ride for couples will be held tomorrow, Oct. 20 and the starting point will be Town Hall. The event will be inaugurated by Tourism Minister H.K. Patil who will also ride the Tonga along with his wife.
According to officers from the Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, Minister Patil will arrive in Mysuru with his wife Hema H. Patil this evening and will go on a ride in one of the Ambaari double-decker buses to see the city illumination. After an overnight stay, he will come to Town Hall tomorrow morning for the heritage Tonga ride for couples.
Over 50 couples can participate in the event and the dress code will be shirts and dhotis for men and the women will have to wear sarees. The Tonga ride will pass in a line from Town Hall to cover landmarks including Silver Jubilee Clock Tower, Chamaraja Wadiyar Circle, K.R. Circle, Oriental Research Institute, Old DC Office, Crawford Hall, Ayurveda College Circle, City Railway Station, K.R. Hospital and will conclude at the Town Hall.
