Mysore/Mysuru: HH Sri Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar (HHSNW) Foundation will be launching the 4th volume of the book series titled ‘Raja Ravi Varma: An Everlasting Imprint – The Epics Imagined,’ authored by Ganesh V. Shivaswamy, at an event organised at the Chandrashale Thotti Sabhangana in Mysore Palace premises on Jan. 31 at 5.30 pm.
This volume explores the images associated with the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Raja Ravi Varma enjoyed the patronage of the Wadiyars of Mysore, particularly Maharaja Chamaraja Wadiyar X and Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV who commissioned several of his iconic works that brought to life, themes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata.
This book launch venue is special as it is in the older part of the Palace and was then used for cultural events and as a Yoga Shale. It has been recently renovated by the Foundation and the book launch will be the inaugural event at this historic venue. The venue is exclusive and has limited seating, according to a press release from Foundation President Pramoda Devi Wadiyar.
Music Concert
The book launch event will be followed by a vocal concert by Vidu. Smruthi Bhaskar, accompanied by Vid. Keshav Mohankumar on violin, Vid. Vinay Nagarajan on mridanga and Vid. Shamith Gowda on ghata.
