High drama at Hootagalli Police Quarters

Mysuru:  Tension prevailed for sometime at Hootagalli Police Quarters here yesterday afternoon when a group of 10 persons, including seven women, trespassed into a house at the Police Quarters claiming it to be ‘allotted’ to them. There was high drama when the cops reached the spot to vacate the illegal occupants.

It is learnt that yesterday afternoon, three persons identified as Revanna, Balu and Nagaraju, members of an organisation brought seven women on the pretext of giving the house allotted to them at Hootagalli Police Quarters on rent to the women.

They then allegedly opened the lock of a vacant house and led  the women inside to show the house. The neighbours, who suspected something fishy, brought the matter to the notice of Vijayanagar Police. Vijayanagar Inspector Anil Kumar and staff, who rushed to the spot, began to enquire the three and asked them to produce the allotment letter.

The three persons, who failed to produce the allotment letter, began to argue with the Police and the women too joined the three in taking on the cops.

As there were more women on the spot, Inspector Anil Kumar summoned more women Police staff from N.R. Sub-Division to the spot to vacate them.

Soon, a high drama was witnessed when the women Police arrived to remove the women from inside the house. The women along with the three men not only resisted the cops but also allegedly manhandled  them.

N.R. Sub-Division ACP C. Gopal, who rushed to the spot, conducted an enquiry and found that the claims of the group were false. He then issued orders to arrest all the ten persons.

Finally, Vijayanagar Police, with the help of the women staff, succeeded in bringing them out of the Quarters and arrested everyone.

Cases have  been registered against them for trespassing, arguing with Police and preventing government servants from performing their duties.

All the 10 persons were produced before a Magistrate at his residence last evening and the Magistrate, who remanded Revanna, Balu and Nagaraju to judicial custody, has granted bail to all the seven women.
