Gundlupet: Due to COVID-19 second wave threat, the Chamarajanagar district administration has cancelled the week-long Himavad Gopalaswamy Jathra Mahotsava atop Himavad Gopalaswamy Hill in Gundlupet taluk that was scheduled to take place from today (Apr.3) till Apr.9.
As part of Jathra Mahotsava, Kalyanotsava was to take place on Apr.5 and the all important Rathotsava on Apr.6.
The administration has also barred devotees from entering the Hill temple during this period, due to COVID-19 crisis. However, the customary pujas and rituals associated with the Jatha Mahotsava will take place from Apr.3 to 9 in the presence of temple priests and staff, not exceeding 30 persons. Also, no vehicle will be allowed entry to the Hill temple on Apr. 5 and 6, according to a press release from BRT Tiger Reserve Director Natesh.
