Hindus face State-sanctioned apartheid: Dr. Anand Ranganathan

Mysore/Mysuru: Eminent scientist, author and political commentator Dr. Anand Ranganathan said that India’s secular framework has evolved into a structure of “State-sanctioned apartheid” where laws and practices privilege minority communities and constrain the majority.

He was speaking at the launch of Kannada version of his best seller ‘Hindus in Hindu Rashtra: Eighth-Class Citizens and Victims of State-Sanctioned Apartheid’  in Bengaluru recently.

Dr. Ranganathan said “true equality before the law cannot be achieved when one religion’s institutions are regulated while another’s are autonomous.”

The book presents a provocative critique of how, despite being India’s majority community, Hindus face systemic legal and institutional disadvantage.

Shankaranand (third from right), National Organising Secretary of Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, seen releasing the book ‘Hindu Rashtradalli Hindugalu’ in Bengaluru recently, along with (from left) Meena Vishwanath of SMaRT, Prof. G.L. Shekar, translator, Yaduveer Wadiyar, Mysuru-Kodagu MP, Dr. Anand Ranganathan, eminent scientist-author and Surabhi Hodigere, BJP Spokesperson.

Dwelling in detail into the discrimination that is directed against the majority Hindu community, he defined eight “ailments” besetting Hindus, including: Government control of Hindu temples; the Right To Education Act; the Waqf Act; the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act; the absence of a Uniform Civil Code; the predicament of displaced Kashmiri Hindus; and narrative bias in media and academia.

He issued a call to action for constitutional and social reforms to restore fairness for all citizens.

Releasing the Kannada book, titled ‘Hindu Rashtradalli Hindugalu,’ translated by Prof. G.L. Shekar of Mysuru,  Shankaranand, National Organising Secretary, Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, described the book “eye-opening,” and “unapologetically candid.”

Further, he said though Dr. Ranganathan has mentioned only eight reasons why Hindus are eighth-class citizens in their own country, there are hundreds of cases of discrimination of Hindus that are causing greater and long-term harm to the survival of Hindus.

Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, BJP Spokesperson Surabhi Hodigere, Educationist and translator Prof. G. L. Shekar, Meena Vishwanath and Dharma Raghavan of SMaRT were present along with packed audience.

SMaRT, a non-profit organisation working for a common cause of nation-building, organised the event.

Published by BluOne Ink, the book is available in leading bookstores across India and online platforms.
