Hindustani Classical Music Concerts on Dec. 19

Mysore/Mysuru: Gayana Sabha, Mysuru, has organised Hindustani Classical Music Concerts on Dec. 19 at Ganabharathi auditorium in Kuvempunagar.

The programmes will commence at 5.30 pm with sitar recital by Sayan Ghosh, followed by vocal recital by Laahorii Bandhopadhaya. They will be accompanied by Pt. Veerabhadraiah Hiremath on harmonium and Bhimashankar Bidanur on tabla.

Sayan Ghosh started training in sitar under Ganesh Das and later on took lessons from Ustad Shahid Parvez. Sayan’s performances include in excess of one hundred concerts all over the world. He holds the distinction of presenting the first-ever sitar concert at the Tagore Society, Houston, USA and Duet Concert with Ustad Ghulam Abbas Khan at Habitat Centre, Delhi, India.

Laahorii started training in music from Arindam Mukherjee and later on from Kaushik Goswami, Madhumita Saha and Sandipan Samajpati. Presently she is a scholar of ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata, under the tutelage of Guru Omkar Dadarkar since 2017.

She gave her first public performance at the age of nine. In 2021, she performed at Rupashi Bangla television for a programme Aji E Probhate. She performed in prestigious ‘Sursagar’ Festival in Bengaluru in 2024.
