Raga Vaibhava has organised a Grand Hindustani classical vocal concert by Pandit Kedar Bodas at Nada Brahma Sangeetha Sabha Auditorium, JLB Road on Sept. 16 (Sunday) at 6 pm. He will be accompanied on harmonium by Pandit Veerabhadraiah Hiremath and on tabla by Pandit Madan Modak.
Profile: Pt. Kedar Bodas is a well-known singer and teacher of the Gwalior Gharana and Agra Gharana. His multiple talent has spread its wings to the Marathi Stage as an actor and singer. Marathi dramas, mainly historical and mythological have produced stalwarts like the famous singer and actor Pt. Vasantharao Deshapande who was a household name in the Marathi cultural field of yore and connoisseurs like the writer would sit through the night to savour the acting and singing of this great artiste.
Pt. Kedar Bodas is a stalwart in playing tabla which he learnt under the famous Ustad Amir Hussain Khan. Pandit Kedar Bodas is also well-versed in the theoretical aspects of raga and tala, the main components of any kayal. This has enabled him to compose verses into musical language. He has also gone into composing music for a few documentary films.
Thus Pandith Kedar Bodas is a multi-facetted person and the connoisseurs of Hindustani classical music will surely have a good treat in store.
