Hindustani Vocal Concert at BVB Mysuru tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: As part of its 145th Cultural Outreach Programme, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Mysuru Kendra, along with BVB Bengaluru and Infosys Foundation, Bengaluru, has organised Hindustani Vocal Concert by Vidwan Dr. Dattatreya Velankar at its premises in Vijayanagar 1st Stage on June 21 (Saturday) at 6 pm.

He will be accompanied by Sumith Naik on tabla and Veerabhadraiah Hiremath on harmonium.

Surmani Dr. Dattatreya Velankar is an accomplished Hindustani classical performer, teacher, academician and the Founder of Shadja Kala Kendra, Bengaluru. He is a disciple of renowned Gwalior-

Kirana Gharana maestro, Pt. Vinayak Torvi and Keertanacharya Lakshmandas Velankar. For more than three decades he has pursued rigorous training under Torviji, who has blessed Dattatreya with Ganda Bandan Deeksha. Gifted with a rich and graceful voice, his exquisite rendition style has won him many critical acclaims and accolades, both in India and abroad.

Dattatreya Velankar is an ‘A’ graded All India Radio and Doordarshan artiste. He is an Empanelled artiste of ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations), Government of India.

He has performed at many music festivals including Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Music festival, Pune, Swami Vivekananda Birthday celebrations, Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Belur Math, West Bengal, ICCR, Horizon Series – Mumbai, Varanasi, Goa, ‘Azadi ka Amrita Mahostav’ organised by ICCR Bengaluru, All Night Music Festival – Gururao Deshpande Sangeet Sabha, Bengaluru, LearnQuest Music Conference – Boston, USA and more.
