Hassan district bagged the overall prize in the three-day South Zone Home Guards Annual Sports Meet which concluded at the DAR Grounds in Jyotinagar here on Friday.
In the Men’s section, Mandya district bagged the first prize, while Mysuru came second in Rifle Drill. In the First Aid Treatment event, Chamarajanagar came first, followed by Hassan district. In the Fire-fighting event, Mysuru came first, followed by Mandya. In the quick response event, Hassan came first, while Chamarajanagar came second.
In the Women’s section, Mandya came first and Hassan second in First Aid Treatment event. In the Rifle Drill event, Mysuru came first, followed by Hassan. In the Tug-of-War event, Mysuru came first, followed by Kodagu. In the Volleyball event, Mysuru came first, followed by Hassan in the second. In the Kabaddi event, Hassan came first, followed by Mysuru in the second place.
Speaking after distributing the prizes to the winners, Central Excise and Customs Additional Commissioner Priyanka lauded the work of Home Guards in supporting the Police in maintenance of Law and Order and traffic regulation. Such Sports Meets are helpful for the Home Guards to stay healthy and mentally fit, she added.
Home Guards Mysuru Commandant Dr. M. Kantharaju, Mandya Commandant Vinod Khanna, former Deputy Commandant Purushottam, Assistant Administrative Officer Vishwanath, Comperer Babu and others were present.
