‘Home Guards work as supplementary force of Police Department’

Mysuru: Dy.SP of District Armed Reserve (DAR) Police Veeranna said that  Home Guards unit strengthens Police force by functioning as a supplementary force, by stimulating and assisting them.

He was speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the 10-day Foundation Training Camp-2025 organised by Mysuru District Home Guards unit, at DAR Police Community Hall, Jyothinagar in city yesterday.

Veeranna appealed Home Guards to join force to enable the Police to protect the land and the country.

“Until three months ago, you were common man, but now you have got an opportunity to wear uniform like Police, upon being inducted into Home Guards unit. Making judicious use of the opportunity, involve yourself in rendering social service,” said Dy.SP Veeranna.

The selection process was conducted in a transparent manner, by recruiting only those who were eligible and have been provided training to join the mainstream of the society. In this competitive era, not many will be opportune, but your dream to wear khaki has become a reality and make right use of the opportunity, advised Dy.SP Veeranna.

Home Guards District Commandant Dr. Kantharaj said, a total of 204 candidates were selected for the Home Guards unit and 177 among them appeared for training. Apart from the Police Department, Home Guards will be deputed to 57 Government Departments. With this, the successful Home Guards can also render social service, with the very unit serving as a platform to work with dedication.
