Honey trap case: Officials of National Human Rights Commission conduct enquiry

Mysuru: The officials of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), are conducting enquiry to bring out the truth in the alleged honey trap case which took place in August, 2017 in Mysuru South Rural Police.

The case: The Mysuru Rural Police, based on an information that a lady has been involved in honey trapping cases had registered a case against the lady and had arrested three persons including the lady. Later, the lady lodged a complaint with NHRC stating that a false case of honey trapping was registered against her besides alleging that the Police, after taking custody of her, had disrobed her and had touched her inappropriately.

The NHRC officials, who have taken the complaint of the lady seriously, have begun to conduct enquiry since Tuesday at the Government Guest House. The lady who appeared before the NHRC officials has alleged that the Police had lodged a false case against her and had harassed her mentally and physically.

Yesterday, NHRC officials M.S. Gill, Srivatsava and Mouniya Vipul held an enquiry with Mysuru South Rural Police Inspector Gopalakrishna, SI Jayaprakash and ASI Puneeth and have registered their saying in writing.

It may be recalled that one Puttaswamy had filed a complaint that the lady was involved in honey trapping and based on the complaint, Police had registered a case. But the lady had lodged a complaint with NHRC stating that as she did not co-operate with the illegal trade, Puttaswamy had filed a false complaint against her and the Police, without verifying the facts, had registered a case against her and were harassing.
