HOPCOMS: Some suggestions

Sir,

HOPCOMS is catering to the vegetable and fruit requirement of consumers in the State. However, most of the outlets need proper upkeep and cleanliness. At present, there is no proper arrangement to notify the day’s rates for items that are available for sale. Whatever the salesman demands has to be paid.

I am witness to the counter salesman charging me one rate and another rate for other  person. When asked how rate differentiates from customer to customer, he evaded direct answer. Also, I was told that once the vegetables and fruits are delivered to a particular sales point, it is the responsibility of that unit concerned to sell the supplied quantities.

Quantities unsold or degraded and results in loss is the responsibility of the unit. Such losses are to be borne by the staff. In such a situation, how are we sure that HOPCOMS staff will not charge more ?

To ensure transparency, HOPCOMS should announce daily rates of vegetables and fruits and provide Complaint and Suggestion boxes in each of their units so that the customers can have their say in case  of necessity.

It is also necessary that weighing scales are properly calibrated  and rates charged as per daily notifications. Hope, the authorities concerned will act on priority and initiate appropriate measures to ensure that customers are not taken for a ride!
