Mysore/Mysuru: District Backward Classes Welfare Officer H.S. Bindya has called upon Hostel cooks to watch the health of hostel inmates.
She was speaking after inaugurating a day-long workshop on ‘COVID-19 precautionary and safety measures,’ organised jointly by Backward Classes Welfare Department and AYUSH at the Women’s Hostel in Raghavendranagar here recently.
Pointing out that hostel cooks, apart from maintaining their own health, should also concentrate on the health of hostel inmates, most of whom have a rural background. Stressing on the need for maintaining hygiene in hostels, Bindya said that it is important to maintain quality in food preparation and to ensure that Government laid out SOPs are followed.
District AYUSH Officer Dr. Seethalakshmi said that the Health Department is conducting 5,000 to 6,000 COVID-19 tests daily. Noting that the district has been recording 30 to 40 positive cases daily of late, she sought the co-operation of everyone for the check of the dreaded pandemic. Maintaining that nutritious food is key for one’s health, she said that hostel cooks must ensure preparation of good food.
Dr. Amulya and Dr. Ashok Kumar explained about the importance of following safety measures, maintenance of hygiene and preparation of quality food.
Backward Classes Welfare Department Gazetted Manager Vishwanath, Taluk Backward Classes Welfare Officer Chandrakala and others were present.
