Hostel inmates hold candle light protest for closure of wine shop

Mysuru:  Alleging that ruckus was being created by those comming to the wine shop adjacent to the hostel which was disturbing their studies and urging the authorities to close or shift the wine shop to other place, the inmates of Ambale Annaiah Pandit Rural Girls Hostel on Chamaraja Double Road, staged a candle light protest in front of the hostel here on Wednesday evening.

The hostel inmates, who assembled in front of the hostel, shouted slogans against the authorities and urged them to take steps to shift the wine shop.

The protestors said that the wine shop was located adjacent to the hostel and a memorandum to shift or close down the wine shop was submitted to the DC on Sept. 21 last year and alleged that neither the DC nor the Excise Department officials bothered to take action.

They urged the authorities concerned to take action immediately and threatened of intensifying their agitation if action was not taken in this regard.

N.T. Pooja, K.S. Swathi, A.M. Surabhi, K.R. Bindu, Ambika, Priyadarshini, Lakshmi, Shambhavi, Sandhya, Harshitha and other students numbering more than 30 took part in the protest.
