Mysuru: Burglars, who broke into the house of a professor couple, have decamped with gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees from the house.
The burglary took place at the house of Assistant Professor Dr. Manjunath and Professor Dr. Suma at Vijayanagar 4th Stage in city.
Dr. Manjunath works at the College of Horticulture near Yelwal while Dr. Suma works at the VC Farm in Mandya. On May 20 at about 8.15 am, Dr. Manjunath and Dr. Suma left for work, leaving Dr. Manjunath’s parents at home.
At about 9.30 am, Dr. Manjunath called his wife Dr. Suma over the phone and informed her that his mother had told him that a robbery had taken place in the house and asked her to go to the house.
When Dr. Suma rushed back to the house, her mother-in-law informed that the doors of the wardrobe in the room on the second floor were open and empty jewellery boxes were lying on the floor. She found the door of the balcony open and the thieves, who gained entry through it had burgled the house.
Vijayanagar Police who have registered a case.
